Strictly Week 1: Gripping... and revealing!

Ian Waite - Tuesday, September 22, 2009
After having only 3 weeks to put it together - and for Jade to learn 2 dances and perform them live to the nation -  it was never going to be easy.  However we managed to fight through the nerves (that were slightly hampering us to say the least) and produce a beautiful waltz!  The comments from the judges were well received and will give us lots of things to work on in the next couple of weeks (the claw!!!).

The Cha Cha, on the other hand, was much better. Opening the show was quite scary but Jade felt much more comfortable in Latin mode and looked truly stunning in her yellow beaded dress (that she was nearly wearing - lol!.. not that I was wearing much more!!). I really felt that Jade showed only the tip of the iceberg and she has a lot more to offer… so watch this space!!!

This week we are busy with the pro-celeb group dance which is going to be dedicated to a fantastic performer, and also some terrific pro dances. Look out for them!

Tune in and keeeeep voting!

With lots of love,

I thought you were wonderful on Friday night and absolutely amazing on Saturday. I also agree with Arlene, she commented that you were the only couple that looked like you had chemistry, a close partnership. Well done. Jade was lovely on ITT tonight (although Claudia has put me off baked potatoes for life)! Poor Jade! More of the 'nearly wearing' shirts please!!! Loving it! If that's the tip of the iceberg , I'm excited. BRING IT ON. Love, Luck and millions of votes to you both. XX

I agree with Christine on all counts-you were both sensational, and that Cha Cha was a joy to watch. The waltz was lovely, but I haven't got over dreaming of last years yet! It was so romantic and elegant! It looks like being a great year, and here's to hoping you pick up that trophy. Please though, don't leave if you win-what would we do without you?

Is the performer you're dedicating the group dance to the late Patrick Swayze? Well that's my guess. You and Jade were fab on Friday and Saturday loved it well done to the both of you! Danielle x

I absolutely love Ian Waite! I think he does a brilliant job with helping his celeberity partners and he is the best partner you could ever ask for!

Great to see you back on the show, hopefully the first night nerves are now over with and that's the last we shall see of the claw. Cha Cha was brilliant - see tall girls can do Latin! Quieter week this week with only the group dance to learn but from the pictures still looks like you are working hard, don't over do it. One request though more shirts like last week please!

Well done Ian and Jade! I liked both routines but I thought the Cha Cha was better than the Waltz. It is time you got that trophy - I hope this is the year!

A great start to the series! I am loving your partnership with Jade and I'm sure with your brilliant teaching, loving support, fantastic choreography and sense of fun, she has the ability to go all the way.
