Leap of Faith!

Ian Waite - Sunday, October 18, 2009
Hi all,

First of all can I say thank you (Thank you! Thank you!)  For voting and keeping us in the competition.

These last few weeks have been really demanding both physically and emotionally. With the quickstep and the salsa behind us being our most challenging dances we were very much looking forward to the Viennese waltz.

Jade has been battling to show more emotions in her dancing. Being an athlete she is very good on the physical side of the dance, but struggles to perform the character of it. During our rehearsals for the Viennese waltz I noticed a change in Jade's attitude and feel like we have taken a huge step forward (A long Jump!!!) in that aspect.

Last Saturday’s show proved to be fantastic and we were very happy to be second in the running order of performance. In previous shows we had been performing towards the end, which builds up the nerves and can cause more tension. Fortunately it seems like all the hard work paid off, and Jade produced her best dance to date. We were very happy with the high scores that left us towards the top end of the leader board.

Total shock that Zoe and James went into the bottom two after they had finished 3rd with the judges. Just goes to prove that no one is actually safe and every vote counts! Sorry to see Joe and Kristina go. (My brother is devastated - big Joe fan.)

Although my blog is being updated every so often I am trying to make regular daily updates on my twitter so stay tuned and keeeeeeep dancing!

Much love

Ian XX

Hi Ian, It is wonderful to read your update and be able to tell you how much I am enjoying watching you and Jade dance. I have absolutely loved every dance you have performed together, especially your Viennese Waltz - it transported me into a fairytale and Jade looked wonderful. Your amazing scores were well deserved. Your wonderful friendship comes across in your dancing and Jade is getting better as the weeks go on. She certainly is keeping you on your toes! I am also loving the pro dances you have done. I am a new member of the IIA's, can't wait for my 't' shirt to arrive. By the way, loved the red trousers!

Loved last Saturday's VW!! You and Jade looked so graceful, it was indeed a fairytale! Looking forward to next week. Samba time!!! High expectations after the Salsa and Cha cha...

Glad to see you get through, though personally I put you top above Ricky http://www.want-to-dance.co.uk/blog/2009/10/leaderboard_17.html

I am so glad you have given us an update as I have been longing to leave you a message, Ian, (I'm not on Twitter.) I was a bit worried at first that no partner of yours could match Jodie as you were so wonderful together but, luckily, you have worked your magic again, and Jade is proving herself to be a lovely person and a super dancer. You are fantastic together and all your dances have been great, especially your Viennese Waltz which was exquisitely beautiful (best dance of the night is the general consensus.) Well done to you both. PS The red trousers were sensational!

Loved the VW and so great to see you get decent scores for a change! My highlight of the series so far though has to be the Spray Tan booth incident. Only you could look that good in a shower cap! Much love xx

The Viennese Waltz was fabulous Ian, and Jade looked beautiful. Well done the pair of you - YOU deserved that 10 and to be top of the leader board - but you will be !!

You were brilliant on Saturday, and really deserved your high place on the leader board. The work you've put in on helping Jade to show her emotions has really paid off-it was such a sweet, romantic dance, and I love your choreography. Somehow it really embodies the magic of Strictly! I'm hoping so much that this is your year to win. My family will keep voting, hoping and biting our fingernails, and hopefully you'll waltz in to the finals and out with the trophy! Good luck!

As a British expat living in theme park Dubai I am desperately missing Strictly and rely on your website for news so I can follow you vicariously! I did manage to watch a recording of last week's show though and thought you two superb. Best of luck to you and Jade and will be googling like mad tomorrow to see how you got on!

Wonderful VW. Beautiful, graceful and elegant and Jade looked good too! Problem being early on in the dance off - the judges are reluctant to give high marks, you derserved a 10 as much as Ricky. Fingers crossed for the Samba tonight

Keep your chin up - your dance on 24th was fab, not fair being in the bottom two. xx

I loved the samba, the music was so catchy. I have never seen a male pro do a floor spin before, is this a first? Shocked you were in the bottom two!

The basics- love you, I watch Strictly mostly for you, and I want you to win. Also I thought the salsa was the best dance of the series and I loved your red trousers. If this gets posted, more detail will follow

I'M POSTED! Ok, firstly - is that Angela that I see the same Obtuse Angel taking part in the hugathon on the Strictly messageboard? If so- EXTRA HUGS FROM ME, seeing as I can't manage to sign in there. I forgot to mention my horror at seeing Ian and Jade in the Dance-Off. I hope never to see you there again. Also, I've been snooping around most of tonight, and I love the pictures- especially you at the track with Jade. Headband and socks- no no! If I think of any more to say about your general greatness, I'll post here!

Can NOT believe you guys ended up in the dance off - fingers crossed for this week, it can't happen two weeks in a row.
Angela (Obtuse Angel) commented on 30-Oct-2009 08:07 PM
Hi Anonymous. Yes it is me. What a shame you can't join in the hugathon. I'll give Ian a hug for you! Glad you are both okay after your accident, Ian, and I'm really looking forward to your Foxtrot which Craig and Len think looks very good. Terrible you were in the dance off after such a wonderful Samba but hats off to you and Jade for being so philosophical about it.

Will be watching the show this evening (missed it last week) and however you and Jade perform I will vote for you several times. I'm hoping you might win with Jade this year, which you thoroughly deserve as you are one of the most gracious professionals and treat your celeb partners very well. Like another post said I loved loved the red trousers when you did the Salsa - don't care about VPL - they were very sexy. What a pity I missed the spangly pair from last week. Worth keeping you in just for the Latin costumes alone, but by no means solely for them.

You two, are so elegant and incredible together. I am voting every week and I honestly think you are going to be in the final! Hopefully you can win this year! It is much deserved! I was gutted Jade couldn't dance saturday, I hope it all gets better soon! Wish you both all the luck in the world! All my love and support Emma xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Went to Sheffield this afternoon was very sad that you weren't in the competition but absolutely loved the show dance. Made the journey all worthwhile.
